Counselor's Login
Counselors are the heart and soul of OLVC. Counselors are teenagers aged 14-18 who assist the team in running the camp. Though the team consists of young adults from a variety of professions, including teachers, nurses, and youth coordinators, and though the team are the ones who are up front giving talks and leading the games, it is the counselors who the campers will remember and love.
Counselors first attend a weeklong training camp, called counselors week. Counselors week typically has 100-120 teenagers involved in the program led by 30-40 Team. This is considered by most to be the best week of the summer. We give the counselors the full camp experience, introducing them to all the activities and games, so that they can later help campers enjoy these activities. We also provide teens with leadership training, and sessions on faith development.
The climax of counselors week is Adoration, where youth usually have a genuine experience of God. It is hard to put into words the power of this experience- it has to be seen!
Counselors will then return for a second week of the summer. Their main role is to be a good example to the campers, and to give them attention and be with them to give each camper a lot of personal attention. There will be about a 3/1 ratio campers to counselors, and typically each camper gets to know a counselor and to regard them as a friend. We are very proud of the quality of young people who give up a week to serve in the summer! Teens looking for volunteer hours for schools or scholarships are encouraged to use their counseling experience. It looks great on a resume!
There are also a few secrets for the counselors- but you have to be a counselor to learn about those, so you have to log in below.

All praise to you, Lord Jesus. Lover of children. Bless the little ones who have come to camp this year, especially those who you have given to my care, and help me to lead them to you. All glory and praise is yours Lord, forever and ever, Amen.
Blessed are you, lord God. Maker of heaven and earth: you have given us your spirit with his gifts. Fill us with joy at your love for us, and help us to love you by loving others, especially all of the campers who are here this week, and by enjoying life in your service. Glory to you, Father, Through your beloved Son, in your Spirit of joy, Forever and ever, Amen.
