Returning Volunteers
1. If you volunteered last year and filled in the online registration form there is no need to do so again. You can simply contact the camp office by phone 403-748-2442 or email admin@olvc.ab.ca and let us know what weeks or events that you would like to volunteer for. We will quickly review your form with you to ensure your contact and emergency information is up to date. We will also review the date of your last criminal record check on file and let you know if it is time for a new one. Criminal record checks must be resubmitted every four years.
If you did not volunteer last summer and did not fill in the online volunteer registration form please take a moment to do so. You will create an account for yourself and then fill in the form. You will be asked to provide contact information, emergency contacts, references and information about any related experience that you have. We will also double check the date of your last submitted Criminal Record Check.
2. All volunteers need to submit a Child Intervention Record Check. This is done through Child and Family services (not through the RCMP). This check is free and generally takes 1-2 weeks to come back. We can help you to find your local Child and Family services office.
3. If you did not volunteer last summer and did not take your Called to Protect (abuse prevention and safe environments) training and/or have not taken this as a volunteer in your home parish we will be providing the training weekly at camp for our new volunteers and those who have not already taken it. All staff and volunteers must complete this session.
4. Volunteers who have completed their Called to Protect session more than one year ago must complete an online review module regarding safe environments. Our volunteer coordinator will be happy to provide you with instructions on how to log in and complete this short review module.
We are committed to doing everything possible to make OLVC a safe and enjoyable experience for the young people who attend. We appreciate your willingness to support our work in this area. If you have any questions please contact our Administrative Assistant, via email (admin@olvc.ab.ca) or contact the camp office at (403) 748-2442.
